The Department
of Laboratory Medicine provides important support
in various activities of the Institute. The following
are the main objective of the department:
- To provide round the clock
diagnostic services for inpatient and outpatient
department.
- To Provide facility to those
research projects which need the back-up support
of laboratory investigations.
- To provide teaching and training
to medical graduates, post- graduates and paramedical
health care.
- To develop research programmes
in collaboration with clinical department s and
other institutions.
- To provide round the clock
blood transfusion services.
Personnel
involved :
The department has qualified academics in the posts
of Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, and
also Medical technologists, Nurse, Computer Operator,
Receptionist, Lab attendants and MLSS.
Physical
Facilities of the Department :
The Department of Laboratory Medicine of ICMH has
two units. The main unit comprises 2100 sq.ft. area.
It is on the ground flood of the Hospital building
of ICMH at Matuail. The other Unit is at Jalkuri.
This department has six subdivisions, namely, Histo-pathology
and Cyto-pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Clinical
Pathology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion unit.

The department performed 76,877 tests from 30,931
patients from January 98 to December 2000, and 24,500
tests from 8,690 patients from January 2001 to June
