The Institute
of Child and mother Health is a national institute
one of its kind in Bangladesh. The mission of the
institute is to contribute to the improvement of overall
maternal and child health and nutritional status through
research and training programmes and by provision
of clinical services. Within a short period of time,
the institute has established credibility, especially
in the field of training and research. It is a major
partner of both government and non-government organizations
and is playing a key role in the training and research
activities of the ongoing Health and Population Sector
Programme (HPSP).
The ultimate goal of this institute
is to guide and lead the country in child and mother
health and a model of combined community and hospital
based services on preventive, promotive and curative
care. It has developed comprehensive facilities to
achieve its mission and goal. The areas of activities
include :
- Health and
nutrition research in child and mother health;
- Human resource development
through training; and
- Provision of health care
in the community, outpatients, and inpatients.
LOCATION:
Sprawling over
an area of 12.62 acres of land, about 30 minutes drive
from zero point, the institute is located in Matuail,
4 kilometres from the Jatrabari circle on the Dhaka-Chittagong
highway.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
The whole complex
consist of different buildings covering a space of
300,000 sq.ft. The main buildings are:
- The Institute Building
- The Hospital Building
- Doctor's Dormitory
- Trainee's Dormitory
- Nurse's Dormitory
- Mosque
- Bank (will be functional
very soon)
- Residence and Staff Quarters
and
- An artificial lake at the
heart of the complex
