The Center
for Training and Communication (CTC) was founded
targeting one of the important objectives of ICMH
and training, as an integral part of all its programme,
play a vital role to the total support system developed
by ICMH. Since its inception in 1992, CTC is working
in collaboration with different national and international,
government and non-government organizations to organize
and conduct training courses and thus contribute in
human resource development of health and population
sector of Bangladesh. Not only conducting the training
courses, CTC is also contributing services relating
to all types of training activities like, need assessment,
curriculum development, training evaluation etc. Apart
from organizing courses of its own, the facilities
and services are open to all partner and non-partner
organizations and CTC is committed to provide all
kind of support to them. CTC has already gained in
confidence in organizing several international training
programmes, seminars and big conferences.
The facilities
of CTC can be categorized into following major
types:
- Training/Conference facilities
- Dormitory facilities
- Canteen facilities
- Other facilities
Training/Conference
facilities:
At present,
there are 4 big and 4 small training rooms in the
third floor of the institute building and the whole
venue is centrally air-conditioned. The small rooms
are of 600 sq.ft. and can accommodate 15-20 participants
when arranged in crescent shaped. The large rooms
having 800 sq.ft. area can accommodate 30-100 participants
depending on the sitting arrangement. Apart from these,
there is a multi-purpose conference hall/auditorium
of 6400 sq.ft. in the second floor where around 600
audience/ participants can be accommodated.
Since 1993,
ICMH has conducted 236 batches of 34 different
courses/workshops and total 4599 participants have
attended these courses (Annex-2). Use of ICMH
facilities by other organizations started after inauguration
of the present complex in 1998 and the record (Annex-3)
reveals that 50 different programs had taken place
in last year and about 2000 persons have utilized
the venue. The demand for this venue is increasing
rapidly and in response to this rising demand extension
proposals are being approved by the management for
optimum utilization of the training facilities and
improving the quality of services of the center.
